TEACHING

Pete Cornell enjoys "sharing music" in a variety of ways.  One of them is teaching students of all ages in his home studio.  His love of music and people, with his exceptional communication skills, has afforded Pete over 30 years of enjoyment in sharing music.

He teaches soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophone, clarinet, flute and alto flute, piccolo, and recorder.

In addition to offering private lessons in his home studio in Oakland, CA, Pete teaches band at St. Joseph's Elementary School in Alameda and St. Felicitas School in San Leandro through M.U.S.E., a long-time program designed to bring quality music to local schools in the Bay Area.

Pete's style of teaching is integrative.  He plays with his students.  He teaches them music theory and music history as it pertains to the instrument and the music.  He offers his students a rounded experience, underscoring performance, the fundamental of music playing.  His students "sound good!"

To his teaching Pete brings a wealth of experience from a life of playing a variety of music--Swing, Latin, Latin Jazz, Jazz, Classical--with an array of groups, ensembles and bands, at a variety of venues, from clubs, to weddings, to corporate events and more.
